David Owen holds an MA in English Language and Literature from Edinburgh University and an MA and PhD in English Literature from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He lectures in English literature in the Departament de Filologia Anglesa i Germanística at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
His research interests focus especially on women’s writing at the end of the eighteenth century; on developments in the form of the novel; and on literary juvenilia. His critical studies have centred on Jane Austen, and he has edited works by Hannah More, Jane Austen and Anna Maria Porter.
He teaches on the Department’s BA and MA programmes and also lectures on the teaching of literature in the MA on Second-Language Teaching run by the UAB’s Faculty of Education. His academic supervision covers BA, MA and PhD programmes. He is a member of the International Advisory Board for the research journal ‘European Academic Research’ and is a member of the Advisory Board of The Juvenilia Press.
